FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASEPicture: Temporary marker @ Iola DepotContact: Greg Lo escher, onthelake2@tds.net or gregonthelake2@gmail.com Historical marker un veiling for Iola’s vintage railroad depot on Saturday, August 14Bui lt in 1894, the Iola & Northern Railway depot No. 66 served the community u ntil rail service ceased in 1958. The depot remains in its original locatio n and is a centerpiece of the Iola Historical Society’s collection of historic buildings and museums on Depot Street. The depot is one of a fe w remaining examples of the Green Bay & Western Railroad’s depots.C elebrating its 125th anniversary, the history of the depot will be permanen tly etched in Historic Iola marker No. 14. An unveiling and dedication of t he marker will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 14. The Iola His torical Society’s buildings and museums are open from Noon until 3: 00 p.m. Admission is free.
