Dear all,
I wanted to share with you two little things we have done that have made a
difference in our museum attendance and membership renewal.
Our museum is housed in a 1904 mansion that is in the middle of a
residential neighborhood several blocks from main thoroughfares. This July
we put up 50 full color 11x17 posters around Baraboo that say FREE MUSEUM!
at the top and show some pictures and basic information. We also put up
five, only five, 18 x 24 inch yard signs with a picture of the museum and
basic info on some key intersections in town. Our attendance has gone up
over 400% for the same 9 week periods of the last two years! We purchased
the signs from esigns.com on line. I think they were about $15 a piece.
We hope to use them for at least two years (May - Oct)
Another idea that has worked for us is a postcard reminder to members that
have not returned their membership renewal after about a month. This little
postcard is sent out reminding them that they should have recently received
a renewal form in the mail and requesting that they send it back in. We
included a picture on the front of the postcard to catch their attention.
Just this month we had ten people respond to the postcard by renewing their
membership. This saves us from having to send out another letter,
membership form and return envelope.
