Sorry to be late with this response, but I believe I have a good resource f or you.

In May I visited a very, well preserved mill in North Carolina. Their websi te is www.yatesmill.org<http://www.yatesmill.org>. Yates Mill Associates | Keep the Wheel Turning<http://www.yatesmill.org/> Yates Mill is a fully restored, circa-1756 gristmill located in Raleigh, No rth Carolina. It is the centerpiece of Historic Yates Mill County Park, loc ated in central Wake County. The mill is listed on the National Register of
Historic Places and is the only restored, operational automatic mill in No rth Carolina and one of just a few in the country. www.yatesmill.org

Contact Restore Oregon and ask about how they’re helping out the Butte Cr eek Mill. (1872, so same era).

The Richfield Historical Society is in the process of restoring the inside of a 150-year-old grist mill. The outside has been restored. Currently, we do not have a restoration policy to provide guidelines on restorative metho ds. We are looking for help in developing a restoration policy to fit our n eeds and felt if any historical societies currently have one, it could help
 us.

Thanks
