“Journeys with Juliette: A Virtual Conversation with the Author.”

In 1830, a young socialite named Juliette Magill Kinzie moved from Connecti cut to an isolated military encampment in pre-statehood Wisconsin with her husband, John, federal Indian Agent to the Ho-Chunk (Winnebago) tribe. She later wrote a best-selling book about her experiences, “Wau-Bun: The ‘E arly Day’ in the Northwest” -an important first person account of life on the frontier, including an ill-fated trip through the Mount Horeb and Bl ue Mounds area during an unexpected spring snowstorm!

Join Conn for an online presentation and chat; she’ll read selections fro m her Wisconsin Historical Society Press Badger Biography, “Juliette Kinz ie: Frontier Storyteller,” and share her thoughts and a few surprises abo ut this enterprising and observant young woman.
