“Mount Horeb’s Gonstead Legacy: A Community Oral History Project,” on Saturday, December 11 at 3:00 p.m.

Dr. Gonstead, creator of the widely practiced “Gold Standard” Gonstead Method of chiropractic care and the force behind the once-bustling Gonstead Clinic and Karakahl Inn hotel and restaurant campus, serviced by the private Gonstead Airport, left behind a professional legacy that is unquestionably international. His renown has spread Mount Horeb’s name across the world more than any other single resident of our Village. With financial support provided by the Mount Horeb Community Foundation,<https://na01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.mhcfound.org%2F&data=04%7C01%7C%7Ce601192baf294a44481308d9b9ded86c%7C84df9e7fe9f640afb435aaaaaaaaaaaa%7C1%7C0%7C637745189030471590%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000&sdata=vMCjwuSqs0tIR%2FScpk%2FuzmP3beop21yZn1R8qbVWHeY%3D&reserved=0> MHAHS set out to capture the local history and legacy of Gonstead via a series of interviews –while these voices are still with us. (Gonstead’s career began in the 1920s and he died over forty years ago, in 1978.)

MHAHS Director Destinee Udelhoven and Historian Jane Considine will provide an overview of this in-progress project, as well as highlights and insights drawn from discussions with Gonstead Clinic practitioners Drs. Alex Cox, Doug Cox and Ray Clinton, next door neighbor Shirley Martin, patients Saundra Roth and Kevin Tvedt, nephew Bruce Meister and more. Their perspectives and stories were sometimes surprising, often emotional and always fascinating. This webinar is free, but registration by email or phone is required. Call 608-437-6486 or send an email with “Gonstead Webinar” in the subject line to mthorebahs@gmail.com<mailto:mthorebahs@gmail.com>. Got a Gonstead story to share? Let's talk!
