Lecture Topic: "Out in the wilds and croplands that have succeeded the Badg
er Army Ammunition Plant, conservation biologists study all sorts of critte
rs and their relationships with the land. It is historical work, learning h
ow cultural forces are expressed in land use, which creates the habitats th
at largely determine animal populations. This informs conservation efforts,
and demands that researchers collect data that will provide useful histori
cal reference in the future. Come hear how wildlife has changed on the site
over the past 200 years, why, and what it teaches us about ourselves and o
ur future.
