The Historic Preservation Assn, has a military exhibition at its Heritage
Museum. The mannequins we use we make ourselves
out of pvc pipe. We can get the forms we need for our exhibits, glue them
together and then pad them with cotton batting.
The uniforms were donated to us. All of our artifacts have been either
donated or loaned to us. We had glass cases made
to keep them secure. We have items from World War I on. If people know
your intent, you should get many artifacts.
When I created displays I used. battle scenes based on those which our
local veterans were in. For the women, how ever,
I just displayed mannequins for uniforms or hung them on the wall. I did
not purchase the mannequins but they were given
to us from a local dress shop.
I am sending an attachment of a picture of one of our displays showing how
you can construct bodies to what you want.
I was having trouble identifying the correct picture so if it is not the
right one, let me know. On the right of the picture it appears
the wall is leaning. That is an illusion.
If there are other questions, feel free to ask.
