In the 1900s the land that the Ho-Chunk Nation call Maa Wkk
(pronounced Mah-WAH-kun-chunk), or the Sacred Land, became the Badger Army Ammunition Plant, one of the largest ammunition facilities owned and used b y the US military. It was decommissioned, torn down, and land divided up an d returned to local entities. Approximately 1,550 acres of that land was re turned to the Ho-Chunk Nation.

Come hear Randy Poelma present, Stewardship of Maa Wkk, an over view of the land management and restoration work taking place to remove unw anted infrastructure and bring back native plants, animals, and insects.
