250 Con is the final and only large-scale national
gathering for history practitioners looking to make plans for the U.S.
Semiquincentennial before we enter the anniversary year. Join this online
event to learn how to connect your organization to major 250th initiatives
at the state and national level.
We encourage history organization
of all sizes, types, and locations to join in marking this milestone. Only
broad, grassroots participation in the 250th can create a commemoration
that advances an honest and complete story of our country’s evolution
before, during, and since declaring independence.
The
contributions of individual museums and history doers are essential to
making the most of the Semiquincentennial’s transformative potential
to strengthen both our field and our society. We have the chance to
demonstrate the value of our nation’s historical infrastructure,
renew civic engagement, and deepen public understanding of American
history—in all of its complexity.
Attend 250 Con to learn
about national and state initiatives that local history organizations
across the country can join. You’ll also hear from the leaders of
America250, the Library of Congress, and the Smithsonian Institution, who
will provide inspiration and excitement as we make final preparations for
2026.

concrete planning for this once-in-a-generation event. Attend our half-day
, online workshop to learn about these resources and how you can apply them
at your organization.
This workshop is facilitated by Melissa
Prycer, the former executive director of Dallas Heritage Village and a
consultant with extensive experience working with small history museums.
