I would like to second Rick's recommendation. CVCLU Board President Ann
Heywood has canceled our regular meeting scheduled for tonight so we can
instead attend tonight's council meeting. Although I at least have not
yet heard what WCLU legal director Larry Dupuis makes of these
ordinances (and I also suggest attention to 9.59, 'Special Events', and
9.58, 'Block Parties', as well as 9.60, 'Parades and Assemblies') the
CVCLU consensus appears to be that we do have some reason for concern
about these measures, and certainly should take the opportunity to ask
questions, make comments, and offer criticisms before the council passes
this into law (which might come as early as tomorrow).

Subject: "Parades and Assemblies" Code Change
The Eau Claire City Council will discuss proposed city code changes at
its 7:00pm meeting tonight, March 7, in the City Council Chambers at 203
S. Farwell Street.. The agenda can be found at
http://www.ci.eau-claire.wi.us/Departments/Admin/minutes_agendas/030705m
onagenda.html.
One of the proposed changes involves "Parades and Assemblies" - the
proposed text can be found at http://www.uwec.edu/sfpj/ordinance.pdf.
The proposal has been a matter of concern to many list subscribers and
attendance at tonights City Council meeting is encouraged.
