This is a lame attempt at damage control Washington style by G.W. Shrub.
An attempt, if I might add, which is tantamount to shuffling chairs on
the deck of the Titanic!

Rumsfeld is stepping down - after seeing the election results. Perhaps
he is hoping to avoid a subpoena. I hope they don't go easy on him.
It will be interesting to see which revolving door he takes. My bet is
with some large defense contractor.

President Bush announced today that Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld,
architect of an unpopular war in Iraq, is stepping down. Bush said he is
nominating former CIA chief Robert Gates, who headed that agency from
1991 until 1993, to become the next secretary of defense.
