This is a lame attempt at damage control Washington style by G.W. Shrub. An attempt, if I might add, which is tantamount to shuffling chairs on the deck of the Titanic!

Rumsfeld is stepping down - after seeing the election results. Perhaps he is hoping to avoid a subpoena. I hope they don't go easy on him.

 

It will be interesting to see which revolving door he takes. My bet is with some large defense contractor.

President Bush announced today that Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, architect of an unpopular war in Iraq, is stepping down. Bush said he is nominating former CIA chief Robert Gates, who headed that agency from 1991 until 1993, to become the next secretary of defense.
