I see the Ollie North has been trying to trying to influence the
elections in Nicaragua (unsuccessfully this time) I guess people stick
to what they know and the areas they are most familiar with.
With this in mind will Gates see that we sell more arms to Iran, an
avowed US enemy, to buy quiet in Iraq, and prop us a puppet government
in Afghanistan? The similarities could be striking, right down to the
sustaining use of drug money now that the optimum from Afghanistan once
again flows like water. All we need is a new US market for heroin,
perhaps a smokable freebase form with a glitzy name that can draw media
attention to act as advertising.
As much as this election give me some hope, there seems to be a gloomy
horizon.

This is a lame attempt at damage control Washington style by G.W. Shrub.
An attempt, if I might add, which is tantamount to shuffling chairs on
the deck of the Titanic!

Rumsfeld is stepping down - after seeing the election results. Perhaps
he is hoping to avoid a subpoena. I hope they don't go easy on him.
It will be interesting to see which revolving door he takes. My bet is
with some large defense contractor.
