The Howard-Suamico Historical Society is hosting a community visioning
session to create a plan for Tremble School on Tuesday, December 9, 2008
pm in the gymnasium at Suamico Elementlry School, 2153 School Lane in
Suamico.
Dimension IV, a local architectural and Planning firm, will facilitate the
community discussion. It will focus on the potential reuse of the property
and how it can best serve the area's residents while maintaining the
building's historical character.
Tremble School is an important part of rural Suamico history It is the
last one-room school remaining in Suamico that has not been moved,
converted or destroyed. The school is owned by the Howard-Suamico School
District and it still stands on its original property at the corner of
Riverside Drive and School Lane. Tremble School was built around 1916 and
stopped operating around 1954. Tremble School would be a fine
representation of early education and school life in the early 1900's and
would be available for future generations to enjoy.
To renovate this school would be a great opportunity for the
Howard-Suamico Historical Society and the decision to go further on the
project will be determined by this meeting.
This meeting is supported by Dimension IV, A-1 Typing and Resume Service
and Olsen's Piggly Wiggly.
