Subject: Funding Collections Care
Midwest Art Conservation Center Summer Workshops to Assist with Funding Col
lections Care
Two upcoming workshops with the Midwest Art Conservation Center will assist
institutions in two aspects of applying for grant funding toward conservat
ion projects. The first located in Mason City, Iowa provides instruction an
d exercises to develop a long-range preservation and conservation plan. Thi
s plan is used to identify collection care goals and defines how those goal
s will be funded. The plan can be directly used in conservation and preserv
ation applications. The second workshop, on grant writing for advanced cons
ervation projects will assist institutions in choosing the appropriate gran
t program and developing a draft application. Advanced projects are defined
as those larger and more focused projects that occur after a general colle
ctions assessment takes place.
