The Lake Country in the Civil War The Oconomowoc Area Historical Society will sponsor a talk by William Marri s entitled "The Lake Country in the Civil War". Mr. Marris examines the co ntributions of local individuals in the struggle to preserve the Union. Am ong them were the valiant Cushing brothers of Delafield and Carl Schurz of Watertown who served as a Union Major General, US Senator, and Secretary of
 the Interior. Wisconsin's "Iron Brigade" was the most celebrated unit in the Union Army. The event will begin immediately following a brief members hip meeting at 10:00 am and will be held at Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital on
 Summit Avenue. Mr. Marris has a master's degree in history and has visited numerous Civil war battlefields, all fifty states, more than sixty countries and all seven
 continents. He is a member of the Oconomowoc Area Historical Society & Mu seum and a recent board member of the Historical Society.
