Subject: Civil War Program at Concord Historical Society

CONCORD HISTORICAL SOCIETY presents:

On Tuesday, November 13th, the Concord Historical Society will present "The
Chartier Family in the Civil War." Jerry Thomasen, a CHS Board Member, wil l present his research on Egnace and Joseph Chartier from the Town of Farmi ngton in Jefferson County and their Civil War experiences with the 16th reg iment of the Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry. Several men from the Town of Con cord served in this regiment.

Jerry researched records from both the Wisconsin State Historical Society A rchives and the Wisconsin Veteran’s Museum for this information. He
also travelled to the Shiloh National Battlefield Park in Tennessee and th e Atlanta, Georgia area to trace the Chartiers and discovered the burial si te of Joseph. The diaries of other members of the 16th regiment along with official accounts of the battles at Pittsburg Landing, Tennessee and Atlant a helped shed light on what the Chartiers were experiencing.

The program is at 7:00 p.m. at the Concord Historical Museum, W 1185 Concor d Center Drive, (PO: Sullivan, WI 53178) in the Town of Concord (across fro m the Concord Town Park). The program is free and open to the public. Refr eshments will be served. All are welcome.
