The New London Public Museum invites Daina Penkiunas, Deputy State Historic
Preservation officer, to talk about the National Register and historic pre servation tax credits. If you are a home or building owner, or just an inte rested community member, join us at the museum (406 S. Pearl St. New London
, WI) on Wednesday, May 6 at 6pm. The presentation is free, light refreshme nts will be provided. Please contact the museum today to let us know if you
 are coming 982-8520.

The National Register recognizes buildings that are among the best examples
of their kind in a community, retaining historic materials and their origi nal character and having a unique story to tell. Learn how the National Reg ister evaluates properties and we'll dispel some myths associated with the program. In addition to the honorific designation, listing also brings some
great benefits to historic property owners, including tax credits for appr oved rehabilitation projects. This presentation will briefly cover the reha bilitation income tax credit programs available in Wisconsin, and what type s of projects can qualify for the credits.

Daina Penkiunas is the Deputy State Historic Preservation Officer at the Wi sconsin Historical Society. Prior to assuming her position as Wisconsin's N ational Register Coordinator 15 years ago, Daina worked as a private preser vation consultant, a college lecturer, and in the Hawaii State Historic Pre servation Office. Daina holds a bachelor's degree in architectural history and preservation from the University of Maryland and a Masters and PhD in a rchitectural history from the University of Virginia.
