Kathy,
The City of Marshfield gives the North Wood County Historical Society
funding every year. They must submit a budget proposal to the Common
Council. They may not get as much as they asked for. For 2015, they
received $7,000.
We are the Marshfield Historic Preservation Association and, to date, have
never requested funds. Almost two years ago, we had to move our Military
Museum and relocated in the Public Library. At our former location, the
building owner donated the space. The Library gave us space in a large
storage area. There is now a new library being built. When that is
completed we will have a larger space and add the history of Marshfield.
At that point in time, the City will take control of the building and some
space will be leased out. The majority of the Common Council are in favor
of budgeting the cost of our rent which would be between $5,000 - 6,000 per
year.
Trust this helps you. If there are more questions, please do not hesitate
to ask.
Shirley Mook
President, Historic Preservation Assn.
