Consider this point when asking for support:According to the Wisconsin Dept
of Tourism, Dunn County attracted $49 million in tourism in the previous y ear. With a 1/2 percent county sales tax, this generated $250,000.What does
your organization's attraction contribute to your county tourism dollars. What sales tax revenue does this bring in?You can also make the case of how
much does your organization impact the quality of life in your community. How does this impact or help economic development? Roy Ostenso, Presid ent, Wisconsin Council for Local History 715-505-1110

Kathy, The City of Marshfield gives the North Wood County Historical Society fundi ng every year.  They must submit a budget proposal to the Common Counc il.  They may not get as much as they asked for.  For 2015, they received $7,000. We are the Marshfield Historic Preservation Association and, to date, have never requested funds.  Almost two years ago, we had to move our Milit ary Museum and relocated in the Public Library.  At our former locatio n, the building owner donated the space.  The Library gave us space in
a large storage area.  There is now a new library being built.  When that is completed we will have a larger space and add the history of M arshfield.  At that point in time, the City will take control of the b uilding and some space will be leased out.  The majority of the Common
Council are in favor of budgeting the cost of our rent which would be betw een $5,000 - 6,000 per year. Trust this helps you.  If there are more questions, please do not hesi tate to ask. Shirley MookPresident, Historic Preservation Assn.

Hello,   I am wondering if any of your organizations receive help from the city wher e you are located and if so, what kind of help or how many dollars.  I
will be attending our city council meeting to ask for some assistance and would like to have information on what other Wisconsin towns and cities do to support their local historical societies. Bringing facts to this meeting
would give me some ammunition!  Thanks everyone!Kathy Secretary, Westby Area Historical Society
