I’m interested in doing an oral/video history of our Fifield School
and town during our annual All-Class reunion in September. I would b
e interested in knowing if someone in the state does this on a professional
basis. We do have an individual that has had extensive experience i
n producing video productions, but nothing like this. My goal is to a
ssemble as many willing people in the Old Town Hall Museum and just recount
memories in front of a camera and then sell DVD’s to recoup the ex
pensive of production. Has anyone had any experience in doing this?

ey Hello,We’re emailing to introduce you to our efforts to bui
ld a statewide network of those interested in oral history. Some of you migh
t recall that Troy Reeves led efforts several years ago to hold a one-day e
vent, called the Wisconsin Oral History Day. While this network could end u
p holding an event similar to the ones held in the springs of 2008, 2009, a
nd 2010, we don’t intend to start with a one-day event.Instead, we
’re sending a short survey to allow us to see who might be interest
ed in collaborating with us as we move our ideas forward. We built this bri
ef questionnaire to start to identify who has collections of oral history,
as well as who has interest in conducting new oral history projects. The re
sults we receive from this survey will guide future efforts, such as traini
ng guides, collection directories, a planned day of action to support oral
history collections, and/or a general support system.http://goo.gl/forms/Iu

We hope, however, that you will take a few moment to fill out this assessme
nt. For those who do fill out the survey, we will be back in touch later th
is year with an update.Thank you for your time.Sincerely,Troy Reeves, UW Ma
