Born in Milan, Italy, and buried in Benton, Wisconsin, Father Samuel Mazzuc helli was not only a missionary, he is also the state’s most famous pione er architect. Father Mazzuchelli is known to have designed numerous buildin gs in Illinois, Iowa and Wisconsin; one of his notable works is St. Augusti ne’s Church in New Diggings, WI.
