WAUKESHA CELEBRATES HISTORIC PRESERVATION MONTH

MAY 18 – MAY 19, 2019 WITH FREE ACTIVITIES FOR ALL AGES

Waukesha, WI - Waukesha Preservation Alliance, along with many other partne r organizations, is proud to host Historic Preservation Days on Saturday, M ay 18 and Sunday, May 19, 2019. This annual event brings local history
 to life for participants of all ages. The majority of events are FREE and open to the public. This year’s event highlights Carroll Unive rsity and the College Avenue Historic District.

Events on Saturday, May 18, include an opportunity to view and learn the hi story of Silurian Spring, historic walking tours, self-guided tours of hist oric Prairie Home Cemetery, an open house of Waukesha Fire Station Number O ne and information on the history of the fire department. 

Entrance to the Waukesha County Historical Society and Museum will be by do nation for Preservation Days. The museum will be offering outdoor fami ly activities, as well as a special presentation from Daina Penkiunas, Depu ty State Historic Preservation Officer. Bring in your best “wh at’s it” to show & tell with the Waukesha 1834 Club. Club m embers will be available to help identify or answer questions about histori c trinkets, objects, and memorabilia or share their knowledge to answer you r burning local history questions

On Sunday, May 19, open houses of historic homes will be held from 12 pm - 4 pm.

The Waukesha Preservation Alliance is also presenting a Historic Photo Scav enger Hunt Contest, where participants will search through the historic sec tions of our city to identify small details of buildings. All correct entri es will be entered in a drawing for prizes donated by local businesses and organizations.
