la Historical Society presentationSouth New Hope Lutheran church was built
in 1889 by Norwegian Lutheran immigrants. Marshall Lysne and Ardie Stoltenb
erg, two members of the board of trustees of the South New Hope Cemetery As
sociation, will present a narrated slide presentation for the Iola Historic
al Society on Monday, June 28. The program will describe the travels throug
h Scandinavia where the first church was built, to the South New Hope locat
ion on County Highway T just north of Hy 161 in Portage County. There will
be plenty of time for questions and the program is open to the public at no
charge.The presentation will begin at 7:00 pm and takes place in the Machi
ne Shed of the Iola Historical Society complex, located on Depot street. Re
