The Berlin Area Historical Society started a Chatauqua series this fall that went over very well. Two members of the Historical Society presented the lectures

with a slide show of photos from our collection related to the subject being presented that night. We then opened the floor to questions, remembrances etc.

They lasted about an hour and a half to 2 hours. We intend to repeat the
"lecture" series next fall perhaps with guest lecturers (the details have not all been

worked out yet). We coordinated the project with one of the local churches who provided the space for the programs. Their members also provided refreshments

after to continue the discussions in smaller groups. This was a money maker for both parties and we were pleased with the results.

You have an interesting idea there. We will have to keep that in mind. If you purchase the DVD that the other society mentioned, I'd be interested to know what you think of it.

I would also be interested in how you implemented your discussion group. Have you tried something like this before?

I would appreciate knowledge of a DVD produced by Wisconsin Historical Society on the history of Wisconsin that would be appropriate for an adult study group. We have realized that senior citizens enjoy group discussions that are informational, require no textbook investment, etc. A good group leader is all that is required. Thank you, Barbara Pforr (Franklin Historical Society)
